Addiction in its many forms is a complicated disease affecting all parts of our society. Students and others struggling with addiction are not walking alone on the road towards holistic wellbeing. The people in their lives – parents, family, and friends; teachers and religious leaders; medical providers, law enforcement, and elected officials – are also on the path. Decisions made by each one affects how and if someone will be successful in recovery and develop life-long healthy habits.
Recognizing this, the Jackie and Faser Triplett Center for AOD Research uses the principles of community participatory research to partner with these groups to investigate how to best help everyone, including our students, develop health for life. Teams of community-stakeholders work with multi-disciplinary research experts to investigate the physical, mental, and social aspects of addiction. Together, we want to understand how to prevent and treat addiction, and how to support those who are recovering from it.
